What the pathologist types is exactly what the clinician reads
Reports keep their formatting from the editor to the PDF, the Word file and the plain-text copy. Every authorisation creates a version that can never be changed, and supplementary reports are added beside it, never over it.

- Your letterhead, signature, registration number and a barcode with the case number

Questions laboratories ask us
Is VipLIMS really free?
Yes. Every core feature is free for every laboratory, with unlimited users and cases, and there is no trial that expires. Running costs are covered by voluntary donations and by optional paid services such as priority support, data migration and validation help. We publish the running costs every month on the donate page.
Where is our data stored, and who can see it?
On servers in Germany (EU), with backups in the same region. Each laboratory's records are separated by row-level security inside the database, patient identifiers and report text are encrypted, and our staff cannot browse your clinical records. Details are on the security page.
Can we export everything and leave?
At any time, free, from the Account page: a ZIP with JSON and CSV for every record type, plus report PDFs. If you close your account we wait 30 days in case you change your mind, then delete your laboratory's data permanently.
Is VipLIMS a medical device?
No. It records, routes and presents the information your staff enter; it does not interpret results or make clinical decisions. Your laboratory stays responsible for clinical content and for validating the system for its own use. Read the medical disclaimer.

Visiopath Ltd, a UK pathology company. VipLIMS is the free, multi-laboratory edition of the system we built for our own histopathology reporting service. More on the about page.
What happens if VipLIMS ever shuts down?
We commit to at least 12 months' notice and a full export for every laboratory, so nobody is left without their records.
