Built inside a pathology service, opened up for every laboratory

Why we built it

Laboratories are judged on accuracy and turnaround, yet many still run on spreadsheets, paper request forms and word-processor reports, because commercial systems cost hundreds of pounds per user every month and open-source ones need an IT team to install. In parts of the world with one pathologist per million people, that gap decides how quickly patients get a diagnosis.

Visiopath reports histopathology for UK clinics using its own laboratory system. In 2026 we rebuilt it from the ground up as one secure, multi-tenant platform, and decided to offer it to every laboratory for free.

What we promise

• The core stays free. No trial periods, no per-user fees, no features held back for payers.
• Your data is yours. Export everything at any time; we never sell or mine it.
• Costs in the open. We publish monthly running costs against donations received.
• Security first. Two-factor sign-in, encryption and tenant isolation for everyone.
• Honesty about limits. We say what VipLIMS does not do yet.
• No cliff edge. At least 12 months' notice and a full export if we ever shut down.

VipLIMS is operated by Visiopath Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 12096339). VipLIMS grew out of the laboratory system Visiopath built for its own UK histopathology reporting service.
